Highlights of their work included internal and external sports events, environmental disaster responses, environmental awareness initiatives, national day celebrations, talent and BBQ nights, parties for the children of the colleagues working at Atlantis and Ramadan centered activities.  Additionally, the team from the Marine and Waterpark were heavily involved with supporting several animal species through propagation and award-winning breeding programs, and also with educational programs and fairs for children on a quarterly basis.

They were also recognized for running inter-departmental tournaments for the most preferred sports enjoyed by their multi-cultural workforce from 83 different countries, including football, basketball, volleyball, cricket and badminton. Another item on the team’s agenda is a bi-annual health fair, organized by the team and incorporating wellness in the workplace. Colleagues are offered the opportunity to do check-ups for cholesterol, diabetes, eye sight, BMI, overall wellness and blood sugar levels. The aim is to have 30% of the workforce go through the Wellness Fair.

Three years on, these initiatives have gone from strength to strength and the team are constantly finding new ways to keep their calendar of events and initiatives fresh and engaging. In April this year, along with Learning & Development, the team are launching a Career Guidance Fair, designed to offer colleagues a unique opportunity to discuss their exciting futures at Atlantis and at The Royal Atlantis and take their futures into their own hands. Other projects coming into fruition this year through the team include a brand-new Emiratization program promising to promote diversity at the resort even more and upgraded health check-ups providing colleagues with access to breast cancer check-ups, dermatology, dental checks, and a wellbeing coach.

Atlantis has found the right balance between internal and external CSR/corporate wellness activities that involve approximately 80% of our workforce. Our health and sports related events and victories are continuously shared and celebrated on social media and are also shared for employer branding purposes by our recruitment and communications teams for thousands of potential future colleagues to see. Atlantis also gives back to the community through supporting numerous environmental, health and cultural initiatives, which ultimately boost tourism figures for the UAE as a whole.

2018 saw the resort’s highest ever engagement score of 75%, something which the team are looking to build on again this year through additional pulse surveys and by working closely with all departments to target specific areas for development. The team is targeting an engagement score of 80% this year, aiming to be recognized as an employer of choice by Aon Hewitt.
